This article describe how to switch the wait smoothly when we have 1 shanten (2tiles to win) hand.
Before going to the main topic, let me share my foolish deal in.
As you understand, you should never click “ツモ切り” button, which I mis-clicked this time…
Well, I was 3rd at South 1 and had a nice hand like below. What to discard ?
This is Ryanmen-Ryanmen 1 shanten, so if I had confidence with this wait, I could discard 7s to secure safety tile: North wind. But here, 2 of 3p were already discarded, and 36p can be weak wait. so I discarded North wind.
With 45p (or 34m), I could switch the wait to much better 369s by keeping 47s.
Soon after that, I drew best tile !
And won ! If I would only fixed 36p wait, I was in a difficult situation such as a face-off against 4th place’s riichi.
